New York Fashion Week will kick off day six with J. Mendel's autumn/winter 09 collection. This show will no doubt be accessorised by anti-fur protesters as designer Gilles Mendel is known for experimenting with fur.
Nanette Lepore is up next. Known for her feminine style and fine detailing we can expect some very girly looks from Nanette. She also has a fondness for gypsy style so will no doubt touch on the ethnic tribal trend.
Up at 11am is Michael Kors. The popular designer has a love of classic styles instead of following trends so we can expect a lot of straightforward pieces in block colours with luxurious fabrics.
Richard Chai follows Michael Kors. The former Marc Jacobs designer likes intricate pieces with peplum and origami details.
Up next is 1909 Victorinox, the brand responsible for Swiss army knives.
3.1 Phillip Lim is up at 3pm. Known for his take on American sportswear we wonder if Lim will move away from his usual bright fun colour palette in light of the economic crisis or stick to his roots. Nevertheless we are sure to see simple but floaty dresses and romantic styled coats.
Following Phillip is Alexandre Herchcovitch, who will no doubt provide some fun unique pieces. He has a signature quirky chic look with lots of loud colours and bold prints.
Next up is Milly By Michelle Smith. The collection is bound to be sexy and feminine with simple silhouettes in printed materials. Her show could also see an A-list front row as celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Kristen Davis, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz are all fans of her work.
Anna Sui is the penultimate designer to show today. Sui is a fan of pop culture and takes inspiration from all decades. Will we see her tap into the 1940s style to fit the somber tone of this year.
Closing day six of New York Fashion Week is Mackage. We can expect lots of luxurious, tailored pieces with a military style twist.
