Finally some colour was injected into New York Fashion Week, courtesy of Brit designer Matthew Williamson. He produced a colourful, polished and all in all accomplished collection yesterday at Bryant Park.

It was a more polished 'boho' collection from Williamson this season, retaining his unique flair but updating it a bit to show his progression in the fashion world.

A Native and American Indian theme was apparent for the first part of the collection, with zig zag coats and jumpers dominating the runway, followed by an unusual leather knit dress, again taking inspiration from the native theme.

It was followed by a progression into a Grecian inspired metallic theme, printed on both dresses and skirts, which were both young, edgy and above all wearable.

We quite liked his leather skirt, fake fur coat and neon belt combo that he showcased halfway through the show, while his beaded shift dress was a simple but beautiful work of art.

Beige ankle boots with pink soles strolled the runway, perhaps signaling the start of a mini-trend for coloured soles in the mainstream. Louboutins have red soles, perhaps Williamson can have pink ones?

Wet look leggings made an appearance once again at Williamson's show, after appearing in three other collections this week. He paired his interpretation with a sophisticated bright red cardigan and unusual feathered scarf- it had an almost Russian feel to it.

It did seem at times, a mishmash of different inspirations had been thrown together for this catwalk show, lurching from one theme to the next. His 80s zig zag black and white print sportswear coat was a nice piece, but didn't seem to fit in with the rest of his range.

Equally we weren't big fans of his printed maxi dress or the crazy turquoise blue yeti coat which he sent down the runway.

It was salvaged however, towards the end with a copper and turquoise coloured beaded maxi dress, which was so intricately put together and designed, it was without a doubt the highlight of the line.
