High profile British ‘exports’ such as Damian Lewis, Benedict Cumberbatch and James McAvoy are helping put British men's style at the top of the global fashion agenda.
More and more style-conscious males from around the world flocking to place online orders with London's oldest tailor.
Ede & Ravenscroft, the quintessential English tailor, founded in 1689, has reported an increase of 21 per cent in total online sales from the United States, Germany and Australia so far this year.
Popular items ordered include black tie suiting and formal wear plus gentlemen's accessories such as braces, bow ties and pocket squares.
Furthermore, weekend separates such as shirts and jackets - a staple to every Englishman’s wardrobe - have seen an increase internationally of 14 per cent this year.
Globally televised events such as the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee, plus the buzz around the new James Bond film, are also being credited as reasons behind the surge in demand.
What’s more, popular British period drama Downton Abbey, which has taken the US by storm, is also thought to have inspired the ‘classic British look’ amongst American gentlemen.
Clare Little, head of retail at Ede & Ravenscroft, comments; “It has been a great year for Britain on a global scale and for us here at Ede & Ravenscroft, where we have seen many international customers becoming enthusiasts of the British look and choosing to dress in a more traditional style.”
