We've been waiting for a sneak peek of this for ages but we have finally laid eyes on Matthew Williamson's new collection for H&M and it is, as expected, fabulous!
The collection is very bright and colourful, perfect for summer, with lots of exotic patterns in blues, yellows, pinks and purple. There are loose flowing skirts and maxi dresses - perfect for summer and some cute mini dresses for nights out.
There is a tribal, traveller-esque, feel to the pieces with Matthew's famous peacock detail present too. Matthew told Vogue: "I wanted to create a strong urban collection fused with the brand's signature symbols and shapes. It's been fascinating to search back through my archives to isolate the most iconic pieces, then rework them for H&M."
"Colour is one of the defining aspects of my signature style. I focused on the iconic peacock motif seen across my collections to develop a palette of blues, chartreuse and emerald. The spirit of the collection is both covetable and precious."
Our favourite piece is the flowing maxi dress with paint splattered multi-colour pattern. It's perfect for a lazy summer walk along the beach with flip-flops but can also be dresses up with heels and a leather jacket, to give it a more street feel.
Another standout piece is the fuchsia mini dress with origami folding detail. It get's a toughened up edge by teaming it with a heavyweight-studded belt.
If these are too girly for your style try the beige jumpsuit. The turn-up detail gives it more of a summer feel and the peacock embroidery gives it a distinctive designer feel.
There is also a lovely midnight blue skirt, with shimmer detail in the collection. Where it with a plain white vest to ensure it gets the attention it deserves. We love Matthew's cute summer dress with pink, purple and yellow butterfly designs - a nice alternative to flowers and a the green and blue patchwork clutch bag with the iconic peacock feather clasp.
The collection comes into stores on April 23rd and we can't wait! Predicting a sell-out situation a second instalment comes in on May 14th.
