Having won the New Gen sponsorship four times in the past, this is a designer which people flock to see for his unique creativity and stunning looks, and his collection yesterday was no exception.
Inspired by 60s couture dresses, nomads and underwear this was a range which had it all, as each model showcased a very wearable and at times wonderful look.
A plunging puffball dress in a tribal green fabric was a particular highlight with sheer panelling underneath the dress. Teamed with a cute bow tie and holey tights- this was the new generation of Goth.
The bow ties and cut tights were signature details throughout his range, which worked well alongside more structured pieces.
Crazy over oversized macs and 'thrown together tops' were quirky and cool, and gave the impression of being made out of scraps of left over material. Who says designers aren't caring about the recession?
Sheer panelling used in the collection was also a nice touch, especially when teamed with corsetry panels around the bust. We're pretty sure that if this was to be worn by a celebrity however, they'd opt for a bra underneath!
Some of the patterns looked to us like they had been inspired by a skeleton, with thin material representing bones, but of course we could be going out on a limb (get it?!) with that sort of assumption!
Exaggerated shoulders, cobweb dresses and OTT black netted headwear were all highlights in the range, which to be honest we could find very little to grumble about.
Flashes of midnight blue made an appearance alongside the olive, gold and black colour palette, and was a nice addition to the range, breaking up the collection into more manageable chunks.
A constantina style top was also showcased with a high collar, perhaps signaling a new trend as this look was also shown at Nathan Jenden this season.
Some fab PVC made an appearance towards the end of the collection in the style of a tuxedo jacket. Teamed with a bright blue bow and sheer dress, we absolutely adored it!
All in all a stunning collection from Aksu and undoubtedly one of our favourites so far of London Fashion Week. We look forward to his SS09 vision in September, as we wonder how on earth he can top this!
