Paul Smith's AW09 Collection at London Fashion Week

It may be the autumn winter season but Paul Smith's collection at London Fashion was anything but dull as multi coloured striped knits dominated the catwalk. There were jumpers, dresses and cardigans with skinny coloured stripes and also hats and scarves which used bigger colour blocks but all in bright shades.

Smith included several styles of coats for winter, including trenches, cropped cape jackets, a knee-length long haired coat and a cool hot pink bubble coat with cropped sleeves.

He wasn't afraid to mix and match patterns with striped jumpers been teamed with checked jackets or floral skirts, topped off with leopard print scarves.

Smith made sure that models were covering as much skin as possible with socks going thigh high and gloves reaching armpits. There were also beanie hats but not the baggy style worn on the streets at the moment, more tighter, almost like swimming caps, and also rimmed hats with long feathers.

There were lots of neutral shades such as beige and khaki green but also some brighter pieces with fuchsia and bright green been paired together. Hot pink was used a lot to accent outfits on either trims or accessories. One knee length black dress with white shoulders and bow used a hot pink trim to elevate it to something a bit more modern.

Smith managed to make the sheer trend work for winter by layering see through tops and dresses under a couple of cardigans.

The show also used safari influences with cargo trousers and belted shirt dresses in different shades of green walking down the runway.

If winter is going to be this colourful we can't wait!
