Space, lampshades and Lady GaGa seem to have been the inspiration behind Giles autumn/winter 09 collection at London Fashion Week as one model to the runway in just a pair of pants in the style of the Just Dance singer.
There were a lot of futuristic influenced pieces with giant hats in the shape of spaceships and one model even stomped down the catwalk encased in a giant rocket topped of with a fur pompom on top and fur trim.
There were lots of metallic pieces, particularly in gold or pewter and Giles also played with sequins using little patches of them randomly on pieces.
It wasn't all metallics though as butterfly patterned trousers and dresses made an appearance. We would have expected them in a spring collection rather than autumn/winter, but this is Giles after all and you should expect the unexpected.
There were lots of structured pieces with skirts jutting out almost like huge lampshades. Dresses were either silk and flowing or calf length and fitted, with corset like top halves.
Models covered their limbs using fur arm warmers and thigh high slouchy boots in either pastel suede or metallics. If it wasn't boots then there were bondage style strappy heels or grandad-style brogues.
One look that we're hoping won't make the transition to the high street, other than the rocket of course, is a cropped metallic puffa jacket that almost look ed inflatable, we're pretty sure it won't be flattering on anyone other than models!
