Hair styles for the new year!

Hair styles for the new year!

Some of the key styles for Spring and Summer are popping up all over the place. From the high streets, to celebrities and even the red carpet, hair is most definitely less effort is more. Just keep the volumising moose, dry shampoo and plenty of grips to hand and you cannot go wrong.

THE FISHTAIL

Fishtailing is a technique that many seem to be favouring at the moment. This can be an incredibly versatile style as it can be as messy or neat as you want it to be, depending on whether this is a prospective work style or a general, 'casually coiffed' look. Once you have the technique mastered, the possibilities are endless. Bringing them to the side, down your back, little ones, large ones, messy ones, tight ones - the list does on and on, and it does mean that you have a simple style ready to go for all occasions, from a day out with the girls or work - just have a little practise, it will be well worth it

Here's a little guide to get you started:
-Brush hair through thoroughly and add a little detangle spray to make it easier to thread, and give you something to hold out on to.
-Depending on where/how you want your fishtail to sit bring all your hair around to this position. Then split the hair into two sections.
-Take one small piece of hair from one of the sections and pass it over into the other, repeat on the other side and continue until you run out of hair, then secure at the bottom with a small hair elastic bobble.
-After this is done yo can then adapt it to however messy  or soft you want it to look.
-Use both hands to gentle start pulling the plait apart, don't pull it out completely, just to give it the effect of being wider than originally.
-From here, if you feel confidant, before starting the fishtail leave a selected block of hair out (perhaps the fringe area) and after the fishtail is complete, start a little fishtail or normal plait and then pin into the main one. This adds depth and volume to the style.

THE MESSY WAVE

Just keep the volumising moose, dry shampoo and plenty of grips to hand and you cannot go wrong.

The messy wave is quickly becoming a popular style. It cannot be denied it is a windswept, summery look that takes no effort other than a little back coming, dry shampoo and so volumising product.

If you have a slight natural wave to you hair, just shower and leave to dry naturally with a little volumising product - alternatively part blow dry to hurry along the end result. Instead of washing hair fully, opt for a dry shampoo, it is quicker, easier and adds to the effect of a natural, messy look.

With straight hair, try and get as much volume into the wash as possible, use a good product and blowdry, backcombing and scrunching as you go - add a little moose so the style stays in place.

This is a nice, simple alternative to the straight perfect look, is better for your hair than the constant use of straightners and is versatile.  Pin little pieces back to achieve a half ponytail style or a banana comb makes a perfect accessory to add length and depth to the wave.

There are also a lot of nice hippy-ish braid and head bands out there to put around the top of your head - adding colour and keeping up the summer season vibe.

Remember to use those hands and scrunch hair up for that messy, tassled, Lively-look...

THE BUN

Whenever people think of the bun hairstyle they perhaps think that this is either to hard to do or doesn;t suit them, but there are so many beautiful style nowadays. The donut style is quickly becoming a popular style and though it may look difficult it is quite simple to achieve.

Get the look:
-Get your hands on a donut ring from a hair accessory shop.
-Brush your hair through and pull up at the same time to the height you want the bun to sit at and just make an ordinary pony tail.
-The put the ponytail through the donut ring so it is sitting over the bobble on your head.
-Then seperate the hair evenly over the donut, covering the ring so it is smooth and grip the ends of hair into the ring until it is secure and has a good shape. Depending on the style you're going for, you can keep the ends as messy or neat as you want just keep the hair smooth over the ring.

This is the perfect feminine hairstyle to suit all those pretty skirts and baby-doll style dresses we love in Spring and Summer.

Alternatively, for a messier bun; when brushing just scoop up all your hair with your hands and make a ponytail. From here just twirl your hair around your finger and wrap around the bobble to create a makeshift bun, either slip the end of the hair through the bobble already in your hair or if too awkward then grip the hair in place.

To add extra volume lightly pull on the bun and it loosens it to make a nice messy bun. It takes little or no time at all and fits most style of dress.
