Labyrinth Fashion
Labyrinth was one of those movies that really struck a fashion chord when it was released in the 80s, not least because we all wanted to be Sarah and snog David Bowie.
No, the fashion from that film was seriously cool, and considering we're celebrating all things from that era this summer, we thought we'd take a closer look at the movie itself and what style notes we can pick up from it.
Jereth the Goblin King was a punk rocker with a mullet to be proud of. From his ludicrously tight pants to his cropped tailcoat jacket, Bowie's interpretation of a childhood baddie made many women's hearts go-a-flutter.
Even caked in make-up, Bowie still managed to impress on screen and is a great style icon for today's aspiring fashionistas. Yes, even women can take some style tips from Jereth and rock the punk look to perfection.
Moving onto our movie heroine, and although Sarah's look may not appear all that earth-shattering, after some of the catwalk looks we saw for SS09, we think she's pretty 'in vogue' this season.
Long loose shirts, teamed with bohemian waistcoats and floral hair wreaths were all featured in the fantasy flick, and guess what? Some 20 years later, these are the looks the designers are dolling out on the catwalk.
Diane von Furstenberg featured ethereal floral hair wreaths, and Isabel Marant showcased gorgeous oversized, ruffled tunics which wouldn't have looked out of place in Sarah's 80s wardrobe at all.
Cute embellished waistcoats and geometric eighties jewellery have also been spotted on the fashionable elite of late, with Erin Wasson taking some inspiration for her jewellery line.
The jeans featured in the film weren't exactly awe inspiring, but you can update them for this season by opting for the ripped, washed out and distressed styles out there.
It's the summer of love this year, as we all go back to our earth roots and back to basics. So white, peach and pale pink are the colours of choice to combat the other neon and punk trends, which are also set to be fashionable this season.
Sarah may have been pretty naive, what with her dreams of being a princess and all, but she is officially our new summer style crush, so here's how to get some Labyrinth inspired fashion on the high-street...
