Fur reigned at Karl Lagerfeld's Paris Fashion Week show with mink covered motorcycle helmets fur epaulettes decorating shoulders of military jackets included in his autumn/winter collection.
The helmets were made by French brand Ruby and are roadworthy and fitted with an iPod connection to pump music in the Canadian Press reports.
Lagerfeld said: "Now everyone is on scooters, even chic women, so we had to do the helmet."
He explained his take on the exaggerated shoulder trend to reporters backstage saying: "Unlike the shoulder pads of the 1980s, these shoulders don't jet out horizontally, but rather wrap around the shoulder like a bridge. It gives the attitude for the whole look without looking like an old truck driver from the 1980s."
Lagerfeld's collection included mini dresses with square shoulders and built in cape jackets, popular at New York Fashion Week.
The designer even took inspiration from himself, equipping models with his own signature style fingerless mittens.
