Katie loves to wear Tom's jeans
Here at FemaleFirst we understand the importance of wardrobe staples, and jeans are no exception. Fresh into 2009 as always there are plenty of new styles of jeans to try out. We believe that you can never have too many pairs of jeans, with Gossip Girl and fashion icon Blake Lively owning nearly fifty pairs! So, new for 2009 here is the top jean styles to be wearing this year.
Top on the list is the boyfriend jean trend. Grab a pair of oversized men's jeans, cuff them up, put a belt on and you're done. There is no doubt this is going to be a huge trend this year, but it is undoubtedly a tricky one to carry off. Remember Katie Holmes in her far too baggy jeans? Even the A list can get it wrong.
Next is the ripped or distressed jean trend. This one hasn't been popular since the 90s when grunge was at its high, but it's back with vengeance as Christopher Kane, brought faded and torn skinny jeans back on the catwalk. Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie are amongst many celebrity wearing this trend, and they have made the look more bohemian than rock chick.
