Husam el Odeh has a gift for turning everyday objects, like a pencil or a spoon into a beautiful piece of jewellery.
He was born and raised in Germany, were he studied fine art at the renowned Hochschule der Kuenste and worked as an artist. In 1999 he came to the UK and turned his attention to jewellery, where he studied at Middlesex University.
Before his third year he had begun collaborating with, then emerging designer Marios Schwab on his début Fashion East collection.
Since then he has worked with a number of other designers. He designed jewellery for menswear label Siv Stodal. He applied his signature stamp to a coveted pair of Kickers and made pieces from chicken wire for the Queen of knits, Ann-Sofie Back.
El Odeh also has a long standing partnership with Japanese menswear designer Mihara Yasuhiro.
As well as designing, he has been commissioned by a number of different magazines, including Vogue Homme, B Store, Dazed and Confused for his figurative drawing to be featured.
His most prolific collaboration to date has been that with Swedish label Acne. In Spring this year he created metal armour-style plates for knees, shins and shoulders. He also embellished bags and designed a range of sunglasses.
Bringing his designs to the high street, he designed chunky silver jewellery for Topman.
Each of the German's pieces are hand-crafted using traditional design techniques with a cutting edge twist.
As well as the British Fashion Award, earlier this year he received the prestigious 'So Fresh' award by Pierre Lang.
