How to wear the cropped trouser trend

Now that we know what trends are set to be big in 2009, FemaleFirst is here to help as we show you the best way to wear these hot new looks!

We've found our favourite outfits to inspire you on how to wear these trends.

The first of our trends is cropped trousers, which are set to be huge in the summer. Luella and Eley Kishimoto used them in their SS09 catwalk shows. Perfect for covering up legs, if you aren't too keen on yours. Cropped trousers are great to dress up for work with a shirt and heels.

Or you can go for a more relaxed daytime look by teaming them with a vest top and lots of gold necklaces.

The high street have already picked up on this trend with Topshop, Warehouse and New Look all having versions out, and with celebrities such as Ashley Olsen stepping out in them, this trend looks set to take off.

Necklace, Asos, £11.75; Shoes, Faith, £30; Vest, New Look, £30; Trousers, Topshop, £35

Our next key look is sheer, which may have most of us running in the other direction, but this look can look great when worn in the right way.

A sheer top is the easiest and safest way to ease into this trend, worn with a white or black vest underneath and teamed with jeans in the daytime this is easy to pull off.

Top, Topshop, £40; Skirt, Miss Selfridge, £30; Shoes, Topshop, £60

Dress your sheer top up on an evening with a black skirt and heels, and if you dare to bare lose the vest top underneath-but make sure you're wearing a nice bra!

With our next trend, why not bring a bit of summer into these dark, winter days by flashing some serious neon brights?! Yep, neon looks set to rock next year.

Dress, River Island, £48.92; Shoes, New Look £20; Bag, Topshop, £25

The more timid amongst us might want to break into this trend by adding some neon accessories, like a bright bag or shoes, which will liven up any outfit.

However, for you braver types, why not invest in a bright neon dress, or some tights in purple or blue. That way you'll be sure to stand out from the crowd!
