With the recession really starting to impact on our every day lives, knowing how to work the latest styles, without spending a fortune is essential.

So, to kick things off, if you do have some free time on your hands this Saturday head into your local shopping centre and check out the last minute sale bargains.

Yes, the dregs are usually all that's left now, but you may just touch lucky and pick up a bargain- look for sandals, sunglasses and jeans in particular.

As you may of heard the 80s are back in a big way for the summer, so if you do buy any one thing this month make it a denim dress or shirt. Jeans can be picked up any old time, but the new faded and distressed dress styles hitting the high-street are amazing. Check out our Back to the 80s feature here

Set yourself a budget though, as each store have their own price ranges. Try places like Primark and Peacocks for styles under £20, while Topshop and River Island have dresses starting from around £35. Check out our Distressed Denim guide here

If you're a little bit handy with the sewing machine and some accessories, then why don't you check out some charity shops for genuine retro pieces and update them to match your style?

Moving on to your night time fashion activities, If you've got nothing planned for the evening, then head to the cinema where you can see Kate Winslet starring in Revolutionary Road. Her fashion in the movie alone is worth going for, and the fact she gets steamy with DiCaprio once again is just a bonus point. Check out how to get her 50s style here
