It's all in the detailing this summer, as fancy florals, scalloping and applique frills all make a fashionable appearance, just in time for the sunny weather!

Cheryl Cole and Marion Cotillard have both been spotted rocking the applique trend this year, so you're in great company if you decide to give this look a go.

We love the fact that such simple dresses can be given an instant update with the application of some 3-D pieces, and when applied properly can make your look feel much more expensive than it is.

Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi took this trend to the extreme on their catwalk for SS09, showing oversized floral blooms to great effect.

Of course the great British high-street has cottoned on to the fab trend and have already presented some great catwalk copies, in addition to their own take on the look.

Go for soft neutral pinks and peach colours this summer, teamed with cork wedges and sunglasses for a laid back day look, and change into some sexy heels and glam up your hair and make-up for a sexy night look.
