Absolutely Fabulous
Clearly those in the fashion know read our article last week about our love of the bonkers style on Absolutely Fabulous, because they've taken the TV programme Stateside.
Pictures emerged from the set yesterday, which showed Kristen Johnston and Kathryn Hahn take on the title roles, made famous by Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders.
Patsy and Eddie came top of our bad taste icon list last week for their hippy fashion, love of leopard print and loud clothing and by the looks of things the US version will be just as outlandish.
The American actresses looked the spitting image of the original characters, with Kathryn as Edie sporting a horrendous orange sarong and matching bandana for a fashion shoot yesterday.
While Kristen, who looks eerily like Johanna Lumley's Patsy was pictured sporting leopard print leggings and bag, complete with a PVC jacket and oversized sunglasses.
If this is the shape of things to come then we are excited, because despite neither character actually being stylish, they became the ultimate champions of bad taste.
Cheap gold earrings, white suits, red lipstick and sunglasses were all Patsy used to wear, teamed with a fag hanging out of her mouth, a piled up beehive and a bottle of champagne in her hand.
Then there was the leather, PVC and leopard print look, which she liked to glam up occasionally- Oh, how we loved her crazy couture!
Then there was Edie with her hippy style and bizarre fascination with wearing everything 'in fashion', whether it suited her or not.
Just as crazy as Patsy, her 'sweetie' catchphrase become something of a cult classic, along with her trying to ride a scooter up the stairs too.
So will the new version live up to the original TV series? Well, they have Jennifer Saunders on board producing it, so it stands a heck of a good chance.
But they need to poof up Kristen's beehive a bit more first, and then we will more than happy to hand over the bad taste crown to its US stars!
