Givenchy AW14

Fedora hats, dark lips and glitzy nails have been named as the top winter looks of the year – are you loving this items?

The experts at online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade.com have shared their seven favourite looks this winter as we venture into the colder months.

A spokesperson for Hairtrade.com said “Winter is just around the corner and there are some gorgeous looks this year which are really easy to achieve.

“Dark lips are making a bold return once again, burgundy and taupe lip colours always make a statement. It’s great that we also have so many celebrity women sporting autumnal make-up and hair styles who we can lookto for inspiration.”

1. Fedora hats

Everyone loves to wear a hat in winter and one guaranteed to keep you warm and fashionable at the same time is the fedora hat. Sported by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Binky Felstead and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, the fedora hat paired with a set of long locks is a great look.

If your hair is short then don’t panic. Celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Fearne Cotton have also pulled off the winter hat look with above the shoulder length hair.

2.  Dark lip shades

Dark lips always appear during autumn and winter and match well with statement autumnal colours. Burgundys, berries and taupe lip shades combined with camel and beige clothing are perfect for the festive period.

3. Glitzy nails

Hands may be hidden behind gloves during the colder months but that doesn’t mean we can’t spruce up our nails. Nude shades with a splash of glitter work a treat and can last for over a month thanks to gel nail sets.

Use a foundation and base coat first to prepare your nails and then pick the nude shade you want to go for. Choose a glitter to layer on top and finish off with a topcoat for extra shine. Afterwards, use your LED or UV lamp to dry the gel and make sure it doesn’t smudge.

4. Waved locks

This winter is all about luscious waved locks, a look regularly sported by Kim Kardashian and Blake Lively. The effortless look can be recreated with the help of a simple curling wand and a spritz of firm hairspray.

Currently sporting short hair? There’s no reason why you can’t also create some curls, use the tong in the same way and run your fingers through your curls to create soft waves.

5. Dark shades

Winter is all about the autumnal feel, chocolate browns, jet-blacks and platinum

reds are all set to make a statement this Christmas. If you’re feeling brave, transform your look. Remember to use colour maintaining shampoo and conditioner after dying to ensure it doesn’t fade.

6. Smokey eyes

With the festive season also comes Christmas parties, there is no better look than a dramatic smokey eye at a special occasion. Seeing as it’s also Christmas, we can get away with glamming it up by adding a gold tint either on the eyelid or on the lower lash line.

7. Winter warmers

If you want something different from a hat this winter then head warmers are a great alternative. The cosy faux fur headbands are right on trend and make a bold statement. Not to mention their ability to keep you nice and warm.
