Zoe Saldana likes to dress her children in leggings.
The 38-year-old actress isn't strict with what her two-year-old twins Bowie and Cy wear and she will happily purchase garments from the girls section in a shop because she believes the selection can be more colourful than the boys department.
Speaking about her broods wardrobe choices to PEOPLE, the brunette beauty - who also has son Zen with her husband Marco Perego, who she announced she had given birth to in February - said: "They just choose what they want to wear.
"My husband and I, we don't like to just stick to like the boys' section. And we like putting leggings on our sons, believe it or not. We're not going to be able to board that plane.
"But sometimes when we can't find something that we need, we'll go to the girls' section, and we like seeing our kids, our boys, in pastel, bright pink colours, and they like it as well.
"So I guess that it starts very young, as children, we gravitate towards colour, and sometimes the boys section can just be very like gray and dark. So we find ourselves always sliding into the girls' section, and we have fun."
And the 'Avatar' star has revealed her brood own a variety of "glittery, bright pink trainers", which they hand pick, although she has tried to get her kids to wear "masculine" footwear.
She explained: "Their input has begun with their shoes.
"So they have different pairs of glittery, bright pink trainers, and those are the shoes that they always choose. We get them their masculine ones. They don't like those. They want the glitter, the glitter bright pink ones, and we're like, so be it."
