'Fashion fades only style remains the same', according to Coco Chanel. But it would seem that women are losing their confidence when it comes to their age and dressing appropriately.
Women across the UK aren’t keeping their fashion confidence forever, according to new research which revealed ‘42’ to be the age at which women claim to lose their ‘fashion confidence.’
As well as dressing for their age, dressing for their figure is also an issue for a third of women and a tenth said that their partner has made them lose confidence in their style choices.
Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, who conducted the research, commented on the results:
“It can be very difficult to know what styles suit you as you get older, particularly when it comes to ‘age appropriate cuts’ and flattering fits. When it comes to fashion, confidence comes from feeling good in what you wear- so it’s important that you take the time to find styles that suit you and make you feel good about yourself. Nevermind what others think- confidence comes from you and you only, so wear what you want to make sure you feel great!”
When asked whether or not they felt that their style was as they wished it to be, just under two thirds, 65%, of the respondents said ‘no’. Of these, the majority claimed that their figure held them back from wearing the style of clothing that they’d most like to.
