Online shopping is an easier option in some cases, in fact, more than 4.5 million women avoid the high street and do all of their shopping online, according to new research.
It found that British women save an average of almost £1450 a year each through using online deals and voucher codes, and save over a day and a half in time every year by ordering items online.
According to the findings, women save the most by clothes shopping online, saving an average of £19 a month, with one in ten women saving over £50 a month. Women who grocery shop online save around £150 a year, whilst those who buy technology save on average £220 a year.
TOP 5 ONLINE SAVINGS FOR WOMEN PER MONTH:
1. Clothes (£18.84)
2. Technology Purchases, Phones, Cameras etc. (£18.19)
3. Restaurant Vouchers (£13.91)
4. DVD/CD Shopping (£13.22)
5. Groceries (£12.24)
72 per cent of women use vouchers to help them get money off online, with over two thirds saving money by collecting their purchases in store where possible to save on costly delivery charges.
Many Brits consider shopping online a big time saver, with over two-fifths saying that the extra time they have at home means they can get more chores and personal admin done.
Nearly one in ten Brits estimate they save at least seven hours a month by shopping online instead of hitting the shops and 9 per cent even admit they average at least two hours of online shopping a week whilst at work.
Adrian Webb, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Sheilas’ Wheels, who conducted the research, said: “Consumers’ use of the internet and social media is changing. With many owning a smart phone, tablet and laptop, people are looking for convenience and something they can access whilst on the move.”
