Victoria Beckham started her fashion design career with one very simple rule to follow, create clothes she would want to wear.
The designer was inspired to start her eponymous fashion label because she wanted to fill her wardrobe with beautifully-cut dresses and gradually expanded her range to experiment with her aesthetic.
She told France's Madame Figaro magazine: "I started with dresses that were very structured because that's what I wanted to wear. The Victoria Beckham woman, that's me. These days, of course, my wardrobe is filled with suits, shirts, skirts, fantastic trousers I'm proud of...
"I also want things that are more relaxed, that you can mix up. As the collections go on, I try to experiment, to reinforce my point of view, to deliver a strong fashion message to the world."
Victoria says her primary aim when designing a new collection is to make women feel more powerful by creating clothing that will boost their confidence.
The former Spice Girl added: "My fashion is very deceptive in because, underneath simple and effortless exteriors, it presents lots of details, especially my spring/summer collection which was very centred on design.
"Women look to my brand for structured dresses, and I want to give them what they aspire to each season. It's crucial for me to give women confidence, that they feel better and stronger in my clothes. The people I meet tell me my dresses do that for them."
