Valentino ended his 45 year long fashion career with a spectacular haute couture show in Paris last week.
The fashion legend held his last show in Paris yesterday after annoucing his retirement last year and no one would expect him to go quietly.
"The world of fashion has now heen ruined," he said after showing his final collection at Paris Couture Fashion week, " I became rather bored of continuing in a world which doesn't say anything to me."
His final show was as spectacular as expected with plenty of his famous red carpet gowns designed to flatter every curve of a woman's body.
During his career Valentino dressed Jackie Onassis on her wedding day, Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett the night they won their Oscars, Empress Farah Pahlavi as she left Iran for exile and Bernadette Chirac the day her husband became president of France.
Gucci designer Alessandra Facchinetti will now take over to design womenswear whilst ex Prada designer Feruccio Pozzoni will design the menswear collections.
Valentino does not plan to retire from fashion completely and will instead design costumes for opera and ballet.
