Stella McCartney swapped the catwalk for the gym at London Fashion Week.
The British designer took the unusual approach of unveiling her latest women's sportswear collection for adidas in gym setting on Tuesday (17.09.13), where gymnasts and athletes were seen showing off her functional designs on the treadmill and in glass water tanks.
She explained after the show in Bloomsbury, central London: "Some people just wear black on black, put their head down and get on with their sport and then get changed. To me this is a celebration of who you are when you're working out, and not sacrificing in any way your style."
The unusual display featured synchronised swimmers performing in her cut-out black one-piece, aerial gymnasts undertaking a complex routine in slouchy sportswear, cyclists pounding away on exercise bikes in orange tops and models running in bright graphic-print leggings and zip-up jackets.
Stella - who wore a leopard print dress and tan heels from her Spring 14 womenswear collection - was supported from the sidelines by top athletes, including Louis Smith and Dan Greaves, many of whom had worn the now iconic Team GB kit she designed for the London 2012 Games.
The fashion star enthused: "I love it. They are amazing. It's not the kind of thing you see at London Fashion Week is it?
"I love the limitations [of designing sportswear] It's a really exciting part of the process for me."
