Have you ever been left red faced whilst shopping?

Have you ever been left red faced whilst shopping?

Shopping is usually an enjoyable experience, when you find something that fits, flatters and is within your budget – but every now and then we’re left feeling embarrassed and red faced. A new survey has unveiled our top embarrassing shopping moments.

Unsurprisingly, getting stuck in clothes comes out top in the survey. Some even confessed to buying the item so they didn’t have to take it off.

One respondent said: “I once got stuck in a skinny pair of jeans in the changing room of a big fashion chain. Embarrassing is not the word for it. Thankfully I had a couple of friends with me. Each took a leg and they managed to pull me out of the jeans. Goodness knows what other people in the changing room thought – all they could hear was me shouting ‘pull’ and my friends laughing hysterically.”

The top ten embarrassing moments whilst shopping are:

Getting stuck in clothes

Forgetting cash and cards

Setting off the alarms

Not properly dressed when leave changing room

Breaking a fragile item

Ripping / damaging clothes

Falling off the escalator

Getting stuck in the lift doors

Demolishing a display

Stealing someone’s shoes

Another respondent commented: “I love shoe shopping but am rather particular about styles. I once tried on a pair of shoes which I thought were for sale. Unbeknown to me, they belonged to the woman trying shoes on next to me who then chased me round the store shouting ‘give me my shoes back’. They were the perfect fit. Unfortunately she turned me down when I offered her £20 for them.”

Darren Williams from PromotionalCodes.org.uk, who conducted the research, said: “Shopping is meant to be fun – but judging from these shoppers it’s anything but fun. Thank goodness these embarrassing moments only happen every now and again, not every time we shop.”
