Pharrell Williams is to launch a range of leather bags for men.
The 41-year-old musician is set to collaborate with Parisian leather goods purveyor Moynat on a selection of bags shaped like vintage locomotive trains.
'The Train Bag' will be "hand-tooled acrylic resin or hand-carved ebony", a clear departure from the label's traditional focus on feminine bags made from luxury leathers and skins.
Speaking about the choice of transport to WWD, Moynat's Creative Director Ramesh Nair stated: "Every grown-up guy has a child inside."
Ramesh explained that he chose an Italian atelier to work on the bags but the huge amount of detail which was required meant that each train took three days to carve.
Pharrell is said to have begun talks with the brand after purchasing a 'Pauline' bag which was decorated with hand-painted tools, and then making friends with Ramesh.
The 'Happy' hitmaker is no stranger to the fashion world, having previously teamed up with Adidas on a sports clothing line, G-Star on a collection of denim goods made from recycle ocean plastic, and Moncler to create limited edition sunglasses.
The range will be revealed at Colette on October 13, arriving in Moynat boutiques in Paris and London a week later, with prices ranging from $4,000 to $13,000.
