Marco Zanini could leave Schiaparelli after working there for just one year.
The critically acclaimed designer is reportedly keen to leave the high fashion house despite his "prêt-à-couture" collection being praised during Paris Couture Week in July.
Marco - who has also worked at Dolce & Gabbana and Versace - was named as the creative director of the House of Schiaparelli in September 2013.
However, according to WWD, a source explained that the Italian fashionista is "unhappy" with his role because the brand "is not exactly his fit".
In January, the 43-year-old designer compared working at Schiaparelli to a "start-up" business but quickly added that he was enjoying the experience.
He told Vogue magazine: "This is a total start-up. But I'm not complaining, I am truly having the time of my life - so privileged to do a couture collection."
Marco also shared his love for Elsa Schiaparelli, the founder of the House of Schiaparelli, who passed away in 1973.
He shared: "She was so punk - punk before punk! As long as I have fashion memories, Schiaparelli has been there."
