The 'Orange is the New Black' actress has admitted she used to rely on the ill-advised pricking technique to help her beat the bulge and achieve a desirable athletic physique.
Speaking to E! News, she said: "I injected myself with hormones. I was so desperate to look a certain way. Ultimately just ended up backfiring."
The 35-year-old star - who began her acting career on 'That 70s Show' alongside Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis in 1998 - admitted that although she understands people's insecurities, society is now embracing diversity more.
She said: "Not to sound cliché, but truly embrace who you are. Embrace every curve, and embrace everything about yourself. When you look at a show like 'Orange', all these women are so gorgeous, and we all look so vastly different."
And, since turning against hormone injections a few years ago, Laura now relies on a healthy diet and a vigorous exercise regime to help keep her in shape.
She's also teamed up with well-being coach Elizabeth Troy to create her own weight management book 'The Stash Plan'.
