Laura Dern's "only beauty secret" is not to "abuse" your body.

The 50-year-old actress believes the key to having youthful looking skin is to stay away from drugs and anything that can "mess" with your organs and skin, and she thinks she looks "healthier" because she has "never" touched any harmful or illegal substances.
Speaking about how she has maintained a clear complexion to Yahoo!, the golden-haired beauty said: "I care about what I put in my body and what I put on my face.
"I've never said [it] out loud. I think my beauty secret -- my only beauty secret --is I was never a drug user. If you don't mess with your body and abuse it horribly, you're going to look healthier. That's the bottom line."
However, the 'Jurassic Park' star has admitted she does have insecurities about her appearance, and is always conscious if she is showing any signs of ageing because she is always in front of the camera.
She explained: "Of course I have vanity and insecurity. I'm a female who is aging and an actress. I have all the thoughts, and I ask all the questions. What's the natural way to keep the skin somewhat alive? I'm excited about homeopathy and healthy products. I love products."
And Laura - who has 15-year-old son Ellery and 12-year-old daughter Jaya with her former partner Ben Harper - believes cosmetic surgery is "beyond temptation."
She said: "Oh, I mean, it's such an insidious part of our culture. It's beyond temptation. You start to think about all of it. Are you supposed to be hiding something? Am I not part of the plan? Am I going to [be] an outcast because I'm not doing something everyone else is doing?"
Meanwhile, the California-born star has urged everyone to "honour" themselves and to not be ashamed of their figure or looks, although she has revealed she was "insecure" about her bottom when she was younger.
She explained: "The greatest beauty lessons I'd impart is to honour what they've got. I wasn't great at that. I shamed a body part or two in my teenage or young adult years. Booty. I was so insecure about that. I was always shy about having [a butt]."
