A woolly jumper worn by the late Nirvana singer during the band's 'MTV Unplugged' performance in 1993, a year before he died, has gone under the hammer at an auction house in Los Angeles for the sum, according to Vogue magazine.

The olive green cardigan, which was expected to fetch between $40,000 and $60,000, was donated by a close friend of the rocker and had a number of burn marks pressed into the dishevelled material as well as a missing button.

And it wasn't just Kurt's cardigan that fetched an impressive price as a lock of his hair was also up for grabs.

A pair of pyjamas belonging to Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, was also on offer, as was Elvis Presley's Valium bottle.

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time fans of Kurt's have gone crazy for his belongings as his striped nightshirt, worn by him on stage during a concert at Speedy O'Tubbs Rhythmic Underground in Washington, D.C in 1988, sold for $3,000 on eBay.
