Karlie Kloss wears flat shoes to avoid looking like a "crazy woman".
The 23-year-old supermodel - who made her modelling breakthrough at the age of 14 years old - has admitted she doesn't wear high heeled platforms because she doesn't want to "stand out" by being an extra three inches taller, and she believes she can "conquer the world" wearing flat footwear.
Speaking about her wardrobe choices, the blonde beauty said: "I feel like I can conquer the world in a pair of flats.
"I think I would look like a crazy woman walking around N.Y.C. in heels since I'm 6'1″ and 6'4″ in heels. Plus, I take the subway, so I'd stand out even more!
"I love being super-tall because I can wear flats on the red carpet."
The catwalk icon - who has starred in campaigns for luxury fashion houses Yves Saint Laurent, Elie Saab and Sonia Rykiel - has revealed she owns "at least" 50 pairs of trainers to suit her style preferences.
She explained: "I'm also always running around in sneakers. I probably have at least 50 pairs."
And Karlie has admitted she used to struggle dressing for her height, but has now discovered what garments suit her best.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her style, she said: "Learning what works for me was a challenge as a kid, especially with my height. But now I use it to my advantage.
"Like I love wearing high-waisted trousers to make my legs look even longer.
"And I get to wear amazing gowns at a runway show that nobody else could pull off because it's so long.
However, Karlie doesn't think she suits mini skirts or mini dresses.
She explained: "I definitely do not look good in something that's too short," she says. "Everything gets shorter on me!
"There are definitely upsides to it. If you're really tall, I think you should own it. I think it's great to find what makes you different and accentuate it, and use them to stand out even more."
