Julien Macdonald would return to work for a top fashion label.
The Welsh designer and former Givenchy chief designer has admitted he would close his own label and operation down if he was given a tempting enough offer by one of the major fashion houses.
He told British Marie Claire magazine: "I did regret [leaving Givenchy] as I became older. I think if someone asked me now to go back to one of those brands, I would say yes. But I would stop my own label. To be successful in one of those houses, you need to be in there every day and focus. Your life needs to be that brand."
Julien also used to work for Chanel, after Karl Lagerfeld personally scouted him, and says the experience helped him learn a great deal.
He added: "When Karl saw my work he was like, 'Oh my God, this is Chanel haute couture.'
"I would do the fabric swatches, give information in terms of fabrication to Karl, and then go away and ask no questions. It was just, 'Do it now.' But it was great and Karl liked me. I always kept in contact. I think, as I get older, I draw more on the experience."
