Julie Walters lost an earring "probably worth more" than her house at last night's (14.02.16) BAFTA Awards.

The 65-year-old actress had walked the red carpet at London's Royal Opera House sporting the stunning silver and diamond jewellery, but when she got on stage to accept the Outstanding British Film award for 'Brooklyn', it was missing.

She said: "These earrings are borrowed and they are probably the same price as my house. And as I got up on stage I realised one of them was not there."

And it seemed the accessory had broken when it fell out of her ear as Julie did manage to retrieve part of it.

She said: "Somebody's found a bit of it by my chair, but even that it probably worth more than my house, so I need to look around."

It is not clear who had loaned Julie the diamonds for the evening.

The 'Harry Potter' actress has previously spoken of how she is "embracing" no longer looking youthful and how she'd feel she had "let herself down" if she had cosmetic surgery.

She said: "I've never had Botox or surgery - do you even have to ask? - and I wouldn't because I'd feel I was letting myself down. I've embraced not being young. It's such a relief not to have to project the right image. Age gives you permission to be who you are, and that's liberating."
