Jourdan Dunn felt "really good" about herself at the Met Gala 2016 - after feeling out of place when she first went.
The 25-year-old supermodel felt far more confident at this year's star-studded event which was hosted by American Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (02.05.16) in her Balmain gown which she paired with Stuart Weitzman stilettos and Eva Fehren jewellery to channel the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme.
Speaking to People about her experience at the bash, she said: "I felt really good about myself. I remember when I first attended seven years ago, I felt so out of place and like I shouldn't really be there. Now I feel I do deserve to be here, I've worked hard. I like being in that mind frame."
Although she felt good in her dress, Jourdan did have some nerves about walking the red carpet because it is such a massive event.
She explained: "There are people everywhere, like waiting for you to walk out of your hotel and then all the paparazzi. It's huge. So I was in the car, and I was nervous. But once I got on the red carpet, I just had to own it and feel myself."
Jourdan - who was named the Style Influencer of the Year at the Elle Style Awards - also revealed Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing sent her two sketched designs of two separate dresses for the Met Gala and asked her to pick.
He was also responsible for making the sculpted mini-dress the supermodel wore to the Gilded Lily after-party.
Jourdan - who has a six-year-old son, Riley - said: "Olivier sent two sketches - one was a short one and one was a long one. I was drawn to the long one, I thought it was amazing. When I had my fitting for it, it all came together.
"The second look is all about being able to move and dance and just feel good. With a Balmain dress, sometimes that's a bit impossible because they're so structured. But in my fitting, Olivier wanted to make sure I was able to move. It's all about something fun and be able to move and get down in and look good in."
Victoria's Secret star Jourdan wasn't the only celebrity to wear Balmain to the Met Gala; Kim Kardashian West and her husband Kanye West, her mother Kris Jenner and her half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner all donned clothes made by the luxury fashion house, as did Cindy Crawford and Alessandra Ambrosio.
