John Galliano has apologised on TV for his anti-Semitic outburst in 2011.
The disgraced fashion designer's career was derailed after a video of him ranting "I love Hitler" in a Paris bar was made public, but the former Dior creative director has now expressed his remorse over the outburst and insists he is "trying to make amends" in a tell-all interview with US talk show host Charlie Rose.
The TV presenter grilled John about his infamous remarks, saying: "You recognise that what you said was hateful, vile, anti-Semitic?"
The sorrowful star responded: "I do. I apologise. And I am trying to make amends in the best way that I can."
Explaining his actions, the Gibraltar-born British designer has blamed his addiction to alcohol, which he says made him act "like God".
He said: "The drinking did creep up on me very slowly. It started cyclically. After each collection, after each creative high, there'd be this crash. I used the drink to stop the voices."
As well as being fired from his position at Dior, the 52-year-old designer was shunned by the fashion world following the incident, but has slowly begun to make a comeback.
Earlier this year, Oscar de la Renta extended an offer to John to work at his New York City studio and help him with his latest collection ahead of showing at New York Fashion Week in February.
