Jil Sander has left her fashion label for the third time.
The designer announced she was leaving her eponymous label this Thursday, blaming "personal reasons" for her unexpected departure from the company, which she founded in 1968.
Jil Sander chief executive Alessandro Cremonesi told WWD: "On behalf of the group I want to thank Jil Sander for her remarkable contribution to the brand over this period.
"Her outstanding design and creative leadership have been crucial in reinforcing the brand and positioning it to foster further prosperous growth."
The German designer first left her fashion house in 2004 after disagreement with new owners, the Prada group, who had bought a majority stake in her company. After the brand's popularity waned, she returned in May 2003.
Her relationship with Prada's CEO Patrizio Bertelli remained fraught and she once again stepped down in 2004, with Raf Simons taking over her role as creative director.
When Raf departed to work at Dior in February 2012, Jil once again took back her job.
Jil Sander's in-house design team will be in charge of completing the Fall 2014 collection.
