Hussein Chalayan is known for his eye-catching designs, so it's no wonder really that he has been appointed the new demi-couture design head at Vionnet.
With such an experimental approach to design, to see Hussein at working with a Couture house is sure to result in beautiful pieces.
The 43-year-old is set to unveil his collection for the Parisian Fashion House during Couture Fashion Week on January 21.
"I'm extremely happy about this collaboration because I think that Hussein is a super-talented, forward-thinking designer," said Vionnet chairman and creative director Goga Ashkenazi to Vogue online. "He is a true artist, very conceptual; he thinks out of the box and has a strong architectural approach. He represents what Madeleine Vionnet represented in her era."
Demi-couture is made using a high level of craftsmanship, but sold at lesser prices than traditional couture pieces.
Speaking of his new role, Chalayan told WWD: "The combined elements of Goga Ashkenazi's creative energy and entrepreneurial approach together with the unparalleled heritage of the house makes this an exciting collaboration for me."
