A little over a year after the Playboy founder passed away at the age of 91, several garments that he owned and wore including a set of black silk pyjamas, his iconic red smoking jacket and his trademark white captain's hat, are going to be sold off by Julien's.

The two-day auction starts on November 30 and experts are predicting that his smoking jacket will fetch $5,000, while his pyjamas are estimated to sell for between $1,000 and $2,000.

Other items available to purchase include a complete set of Playboy magazines, one of Hugh's signature pipes, an original Playboy Club key, his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star from the mansion, and his Playboy logo cufflinks.

A public exhibition of the pieces will also be available for a four-day viewing, beginning on November 26 and all profits from the sales will go to The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation, which was established in 1964 and supports organisations that advocate for and defend civil rights and civil liberties with special emphasis on First Amendment rights and rational sex and drug policies.

Speaking on behalf of the charity, Hugh's daughter Christie said: "Whether it was building his company into one of the most recognisable global brands in history or standing up for social, sexual and civil rights causes. My father lived an extraordinary life as a publishing, social and cultural pioneer and left a legacy that his Foundation will perpetuate. We are very proud to announce that 100 percent of the auction proceeds will benefit the Foundation that works to advance his life's commitment to individual rights in a free society."
