Model Wearing Zon Hearing Aid

Hearing aids aren't known for being at the height of fashion but they were the stars of the show on the Manchester Fashion Week catwalk.

Models sported a contemporary new range of hearing instruments to raise awareness of the stigma attached to wearing them and also prove that they can be stylish.

Suzie Butcher, from Starkey Laboratories, who created the trendy new Zon aid said: “We knew that working with Manchester in Fashion would help to propel the issue onto the public agenda – hearing aids have just had a fabulous makeover!”

Statistics show that almost nine million people are hard of hearing and there are two million hearing aid wearers in the UK.

The average person in the UK waits an astonishing 15 years before seeking help to aid their impairment1, often because they associate deafness with the elderly when this isn't the case at all.

Susie Cliff, project manager at Manchester in Fashion comments: “Fashion and hearing aids aren’t necessarily a natural fit – but we should definitely be trying to bridge the gap. Hopefully this event has gone some way to demonstrating that style doesn’t need to be compromised with a hearing aid.”
