Julian Schnabel, Isaac Julien, Adam Yauch and Steve McQueen have been announced as nominees for the annual Gucci Group award.
The prestigious award is presented each year at the Venice Film Festival to an artist who the judges believe has had a biggest influence on film.
On the panel this year are Italian Vogue's editor-in-chief Franco Sozzani, artist Jeff Koons, YSL creative director Stefano Pilati and artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, Marco Muller.
"The Gucci Group recognises that talent and creative vision expressed in one medium often lead to significant contributions in other artistic endeavours," explains Robert Polet, ceo and chairman of the Gucci Group, "This award crystallizes the groups' long-term goal of fostering originality and inventiveness in the arts."
Judge Marco Muller added: "We have chosen the most original international artists, who, through broad creative metamorphosis, continue to challenge our hearts and minds."
