Giorgio Armani believes his fashion empire is synonymous with prestige.
The veteran Italian designer says his eponymous label - which he founded in 1974 - is a mark of honour for today's celebrities because it means they have personally opted to wear his elegant gowns on the red carpet.
Giorgio told The Telegraph newspaper: "It's a business. Although nowadays wearing something by Armani is more prestigious, I think - because with so many other brands you know that it has been paid for.
"So if you see someone wearing Armani, you know it is the choice of the celebrity. It is honourable."
The 78-year-old star - whose personal fortune stood at $8.5 billion as of 2013 - is a perfectionist and won't relinquish his career just yet because he strives to do even better.
He said: "I must always try to do better. Because perfectionism, and the need to always have new goals and achieve them, is a state of mind that brings profound meaning to life."
Giorgio also discussed his pre-show rituals, claiming he would never send his models down the runway without donning his lucky accessory.
He joked: "Before the show I'd always like to have a vodka! But no... the only thing I do is to always wear the same watch ... it was a present."
