Erdem Moralioglu says his mother influenced his perception of women and is a source of creative inspiration for every collection.
The fashion designer says his late mother - who passed away four years after he graduated from the Royal College of Art in London - always encouraged him to pursue his dreams and is the driving force behind all his womenswear designs.
He explained in an interview with British Vogue magazine: "My mum always encouraged us to be creative. She would march us into museums and showed us art books and things she found exciting. She didn't separate us from what she found enjoyable.
"You can link every collection back to who she was. She will always be very important in my perception of women - maybe that sounds too heavy - but I always felt no matter what I would propose to a woman, it would have an absolute respect."
The 35-year-old star has a very visual approach to creating each collection and says his love of fashion started at a young age when he began using art to express himself.
Discussing his creative process, Erdem revealed: "I will literally draw the show. I was always drawing as a child, drawing, drawing, drawing.
"I think my parents didn't really know what to do with me when I was a kid because I didn't want to play hockey or be in the boy scouts, so my mother put me in pottery classes."
