Ellie Goulding will "definitely" never dye her hair black again.
The 29-year-old singer opted for a dark goth style as a teenager, which saw her darken her blonde locks, wear baggy jeans and sport a lip piercing, but she'll never go back because to constantly colour your hair is just too "heavy maintenance".
Speaking to Marie Claire magazine about her beauty blunder in her younger days, she said: "I used to dye my hair black. That's definitely something I won't go back and do. No one encouraged me, I don't know where I got the idea from, but it was heavy maintenance.
"When I was 14 I had my lip pierced too - where I grew up it was cool to wear big jeans, hoodies and Vans so that was my look.'
The 'Love Me Like You Do' hitmaker - who was raised in small English village Lyonshall - got her fashion inspiration as a teenager from the look sported by American grunge rock band Pearl Jam.
She said: "I was into a lot of rock bands like Pearl Jam and Incubus."
Meanwhile, Ellie - who is the new face of Pantene PRO-V, appearing in the company's 'Strong is Beautiful' campaign - has admitted that her busy schedule, quick costume changes on her 'Delirium World Tour' and past hair experiments have had a damaging effect on her golden locks.
She said: "I put my hair through a lot of heat styling and colouring, especially when I'm touring. Up until now, I only used salon brands, but now I've discovered Pantene PRO-V there's no going back. It is my ultimate hair saviour as it keeps my hair strong and at its most beautiful."
