Dylan Penn didn't want to become a model.
The 23-year-old beauty - who is the daughter of actor Sean Penn and 'Forrest Gump' star Robin Wright - has confessed she initially tried to stay away from pursuing a career in modelling as she feared her shy nature would hold her back in the industry.
She told WWD: "[Modeling] was something I was really trying to stay away from originally, just because I consider myself a really shy person. I didn't think I'd be good at it."
However, Dylan - who has scored campaigns for Gap Outlet stores, Stuart Weitzman, starred on the cover of L'Officiel Italia and was recently unveiled as the face of Ermanno Scervino's spring line - decided to "swallow her fear" after learning that a career in front of the camera would be lucrative.
She said: "After realizing what kind of pay I would get, I decided to swallow that fear and try it out."
The model also admitted she is aware her famous last name can help her land jobs but believes her personality and the relationships she establishes with designers are more important.
She explained: "I know that my last name plays a huge part in getting certain jobs.
"I'm not oblivious to that fact. But I don't think I would be hired for things if I was really wrong for the part. I also think a lot of it depends on personality, vibe, clicking with that designer, that crew or whatever."
