The party dress has been our go-to for years, with firm favourites making reappearances time and time again, but new research reveals that it may have in fact had its day.
New research reveals that young adult women prefer to wear a playsuit or skinny jeans on a night out or at a party than a dress.
The research was conducted by www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk after searches for dress-related discounts were on the decline.
The top two items that women between the ages of 18-30 were likely to wear on a night out or to a party are skinny jeans or a playsuit, with the trusty dress only coming in third on the list. The skirt followed at number four and rounding off the top five was the jumpsuit - a piece that's become a staple in many womens' wardrobes.
More than half of women admitted that they own fewer dresses than they did last year, preferring other styles and outfits now.
And it seems women are ready to make a statement when they hit a party, with the majority of women preferring to wear red on a night out.
Nick Swan, spokesperson for VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said the following:
“It seems a lot of party dresses are getting left on the hangers these days, with skinny jeans and playsuits taking over. Trends seem to change on a weekly basis, so it’d be interesting to see what would happen if we did this research in a few months’ time. Perhaps the little black dress isn’t so much of a phenomenon right now and the little red playsuit is taking the lead!”
