Claire Danes' Met Gala dress was powered by 30 battery packs.
The 'Homeland' actress adorned an enchanting custom-made Zac Posen pale blue gown to the star-studded event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday evening (02.05.16), which held 30 mini battery packs that were intricately sewn into the fibre optic organza dress to make the garment glow in the dark.
Taking to Twitter to share the mechanics behind Claire's gown, which followed this year's Manys x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme, the 35-year-old American fashion designer tweeted: "The stunning #ClaireDanes in my custom made Fiber Optic Woven Organza Gown @metmuseum #MetGala2016 (sic)".
Prior to the big unveil Zac posted a string of photos of the dress, teasing who would be wearing the item.
In one post showcasing the item in black and white, he wrote: " Guess who? Getting ready for #MetGala2016 #manusxmachina #metball16 (sic)".
Whilst another post exhibiting the creation in its full luminous glory, was accompanied by the tweet: "Starry night! #Zacposen #metgala #glamour @metmuseum @voguemagazine @instagram (sic)"
Other fashion highlights from the red carpet included Jourdan Dunn, who wore an embellished dress by Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing, Taylor Swift in a metallic thigh skimming dress completed by striking blonde hair and black lipstick, and Emily Ratajkowski who wore an elegant white backless gown which was slashed to the thigh on the left side.
