Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s first perfume, StormFlower is set to earn the newlywed around £1.2m this year in the UK, according to beauty and fragrance experts.
The seven-figure sum was calculated from pre-orders following her hugely successful launch last week in London.
It looks like it’s all good news for the singer this year, as she hit the number one spot with her single, Crazy, Stupid Love last night too.
Online beauty retailer Escentual.com CEO Rakesh Aggarwal said: "StormFlower is predicted to sell around 300,000 units from now till Christmas. It’s certainly looking like it’s going to be the most successful celebrity perfume launch of the year in the UK.”
On the basis of 300,000 sales of the most popular 30ml Eau de Parfum, which is expected to retail at £23.95, and the 50ml at £29.95, the turnover will come in at nearly £3.6m in the lead up to Christmas. Although the exact deal that the X Factor judge struck with the perfume company is closely guarded secret most industry insiders have estimated that Cheryl will personally earn around £4 for every 30ml Eau de Parfum bottle sold, which means she is due to bank £1.2m.
Other products and gift sets are expected to be added to the StormFlower range in the next few months, like a Body Lotion, and Shower Gel just in time for the Christmas market which accounts for around 70% of annual fragrance sales, so there could be even greater revenue for Cheryl over the festive season.
Escentual.com boss Rakesh Aggarwal said: “StormFlower is looking like it’s going to be the hottest fragrance for 2014 and I would anticipate turnover will top £5m for the range over Christmas - which would see Cheryl earn £1.2m by the end of the festive season, just from UK perfume sales.”
The hype about Cheryl’s perfume has been intense in the past couple of days with a big PR campaign following her launch at the up-market restaurant Avenue in St James, central London. She attended the launch with her new husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and wore a floor length bridal inspired evening gown in a neutral taupe colour.
The perfume is expected to go to the top of the perfume charts when it goes on sale on 15th September and is likely to outsell all recent celebrity fragrances including both Lady Gaga’s Fame, Beyonce’s Heat, Rihanna's – Reb’l Fleur and Rebelle, Justin Bieber’s Someday, David Beckham's Homme, and J Lo's Glow.
The best selling celebrity fragrance of all time is still White Diamonds by the late Elizabeth Taylor, and last year’s hit fragrance that was released by X Factor boyband One Direction – Our Moment – was also a hugely successful perfume.
