Charlize Theron believes women "wilt" as they age.
The 40-year-old 'Mad Max: Fury Road' actress admitted that females are continually plagued with fear they will grow older ungracefully, because society dictates an "unrealistic" stereotype - although men remain unconcerned.
Speaking in the May issue of GQ magazine, she said: "It would be a lie to say there is less worry for women as they get older than there is for men. It feels there's this unrealistic standard of what a woman is supposed to look like when she's over 40. We live in a society where women wilt and men age like fine wine. And, for a long time, women accepted it. We were waiting for society to change, but now we're taking leadership."
Meanwhile, Charlize has admitted that she found it ironic when she landed the J'adore by Christian Dior perfume deal because it came just after her appearance in 'Monster', which saw her cast as real- life serial killer prostitute Aileen Wuornos and gain 30 pounds for the role.
Speaking to ELLE magazine for a behind-the-scenes video of her shooting her latest campaign for Dior, she said recently: "When I got the call from New York, I had just done 'Monster'. It's great irony. They were like, 'We want that girl.' "
