Being comfortable in your clothes is a key component for great style, but how comfortable can you be in clothes you don’t actually like?
Brits are succumbing to the lure of brand names and forgoing their style preferences, according to new research.
A new survey has revealed that many men and women throughout the UK could be wasting money on clothing items and accessories that they do not actually like, but which they deem to be ‘fashionable’ just because of the brand name or label attached to the pieces.
Women are the worst offenders too, with 51% admitting to it compared to the 39% of men. The main reason for doing this was because they wanted to look on trend, regardless of their personal opinion.
Further reasons included: 12% wanted to look expensive/wealthy, whilst 24% claimed they wore branded clothing that they didn’t necessarily like because their friends wore similar things.
George Charles, spokesperson for VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said the following:
“It’s outrageous to think that so many people are wearing clothes they hate or outfits they think don’t suit them just because of a certain name sprawled on the label or emblazoned on the front. Some people have more than £300 worth of clothes in their wardrobes that fit this description, which is a lot of money wasted.
“Fashion in particular is meant to be a way to represent your personality. People should ensure that they like and need all of the items they purchase, because spending can quickly spiral out of control and, before you know it, result in debt. It’s no use spending money on things you really don’t like or aren’t sure about, so always consider purchases carefully.”
