Beyonce has a bootylicious figure, we know this from her figure-fitting costumes she wears on stage, but her Grammy dress designer reveals that's she has tiny measurements.

Michael Costello was amazed by Beyoncé's "tiny" measurements when dressing her for the 2014 Grammy Awards.

The 'Project Runway' winner was stunned to discover how small the superstar's waist really is when he was designing the white floral gown with sheer detailing she wore to the 56th annual awards ceremony on Sunday night (26.01.14).

He enthused to E! News: "It was incredible! We didn't have any of her sizes or measurements. The dress was just made to fit a sample mannequin.

"It's smaller than a size 4. She is tiny! That dress is at least a 2/4. She looks amazing. I just love the way it all came together. Ty [Beyoncé's stylist] knew it was going to fit.

"At first I was a little concerned with the pieces I gave. Maybe it needs to be smaller or bigger? When you send something to Beyoncé, you're just a little concerned, but Ty knew."

Michael - who is used to working under pressure on Heidi Klum's designer search show - claims the dress only took three days to make and wasn't finished when Ty came to check-in on progress the day before the music awards.

He said: "The neckline, the back, the hemline was not complete, and we still had to do some of the hand sewing on it. We put in a good extra day's work. We had a great team. I made four other pieces that night for Beyoncé, so that Ty had good options."

The designer was inspired by the Winter Wonderland fairground in New York City's Bryant Park and says the snowy landscape was the perfect fit for the queen of pop.

Michael explained: "The dress was inspired by New York. The Winter Wonderland in New York. I've been obsessed with New York, the culture, the lifestyle. I love visiting the city when it's covered in snow.

"I imagined snow falling onto plants, and trees. It was as if snow was falling onto fabric. When I found the fabric and cut out the leaves and flowers. It all came out together magically."
