Amy Schumer was honoured at ELLE's Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday night (19.10.15).
The 'Trainwreck' star dazzled in a floating red dress at the 22nd annual event held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills at which she was recognised for her contribution to comedy and film.
During her acceptance speech she referenced Taylor Swift's famous "girl squad" of friends - which includes Selena Gomez, Lily Aldridge, Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid among others - and urged women to support each other in all walks of life.
Amy, 34, said: "I would like to join any squad that would have me as a member. I think it's really interesting that this phrasing has popped up. Like all of a sudden, it's not just your friends any more. You're a squad. It kind of makes it sound more powerful. I'm all for it."
In total eight ladies were honoured at the event and Amy will grace the cover of ELLE's November issue along with Carey Mulligan, 30, Kate Winslet, 40, Dakota Johnson, 26, Salma Hayek, 49, Gena Rowlands, 85, Alicia Vikander, 27 and director Ava DuVernay, 43.
The magazine's Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers explained in her letter why she specifically chose these women.
She revealed: "Eight extraordinary women deserve this moment of praise and reflection for illuminating the many realities of what it means to be a woman right now."
Meryl Streep was on hand to present Carey with her award and couldn't resist taking the opportunity to take a swipe at sexism in Hollywood.
She told the assembled guests: "Can you imagine if they had this great big meeting once a year and called it 'Men in Hollywood? We would be p***ed, right? Oh, wait. They have those meetings every day, in every country and every city in the world. Oh, I can't do stand-up!"
